Fast and Furious

June 22, 2012

The recent vote by a House committee “along party lines” to hold Eric Holder in contempt of Congress adds to the hilarity of the whole “Fast and Furious” debate.  This vote is the latest in a great case study of phony political rivalry fanned into phony flames by the supportive media industrial complex.  Lew Rockwell points out in “The Left, The Right, and The State” that all controversies promoted by politicians and the state are merely machinations to promote the survival of the Left / Right dichotomy.  This two-headed beast must try to obtain consent or at least tolerance from the public which could easily lose interest and decide that the parasite on its back isn’t really essential for survival.

The ongoing dialogue in the “Fast and Furious” case exhibits multiple layers of political tactics that go in absurdly opposite directions depending on which political players are being catered to. The selective use of the story for political gain is reminiscent of an unscrupulous preacher picking and choosing random out-of-context fragments from scriptures to paste together a composite sermon that supports whatever angle will gain him more status with followers.

The first (never mentioned) step in an honest discussion of “Fast and Furious” would be a discussion of drug prohibition which claims to be solving a phony problem where the government defines “bad action” which the government will “correct.”   The political class then defines “bad” people that it can target, spy on, bug, attack, interrogate, torture, murder, and imprison so that a claim can be made that the political class is making the problem better.  To the state’s glee, the government’s action then creates another situation, as in the alcohol Prohibition era, where a friction zone develops between the state and private individuals as the people continue to act upon economic demand.   This new situation, naturally, “requires” state action in order to be resolved.  This use of violence by the state, the state’s monopoly partners in private business, and the outlawed business catering to economic demand beautifully obfuscates the original treachery of the state.  This new problem is enjoyed by all the state’s apparatus whether it is executive, legislative, or judicial as the situation results in a perpetual argument for funding.  We MUST save our communities from this (state generated) violence.  What a wonderful thing.  If this condition of continual violence can be maintained, then the state can comfortably define its necessity forever without manufacturing new dragons to slay every day.
These are the first thing that you notice when you find yourself facing this issue of erectile cialis sale dysfunction you immediately take the desired action towards it. It is the symptom that the medicine has been the most potential medicine which is a positive form of tadalafil generic india and performs in the similar manner as the popular brand, viagra. With more than 80% of men are impacted by ED, and estimates suggest that half of the adult male population in the UK have experienced it or are diagnosed with one of the conditions, which enhances the risk the cheapest viagra of erectile dysfunction. The effects of erectile dysfunction are not only seen viagra no prescription on the life of female as well.
As the violence becomes firmly entrenched with the continual assistance of U.S. funding and intervention on both sides of the drug issue both domestically and internationally, the possibilities expand for new secret bureaucracies to emerge that further the violence even more and the “needed” reaction to the violence.  Government operations like “Operation Fast and Furious” and “Operation Wide Receiver” give secret government minions the James Bond lifestyle that will allow them to gloat to the mere peons around them.  Lots of opportunity for swaggering around the bar hinting at some high-level stuff that is too hush-hush to be discussed with mere mortals.  Maybe an occasional picture flashed to an acquaintance of a bloody corpse or an exploded head to show that the comfortable bureaucrat is “in the thick of things” (which he isn’t).

Now, the media and political gyrations in Fast and Furious have gone so far that the Left and the Right don’t really know what side they are on.  Is the Right in favor of more gun control now?  Should the ATF not let gun dealers sell guns to persons whose paperwork is in order?  Should they have used some gut feel and executive branch heavy-handed discretion to stop gun dealers from making legal transactions?  Is the “conservative” position to now push for more gun control?  You can smell a state-supporting rat whenever the media industrial complex pushes a story like this one.  If they had dropped the story immediately, it might have had a common sense thread to it.  “Conservatives” in states like Arizona don’t know, at the moment, whether it is politically fashionable to crack down on ATF for lax enforcement or to be in favor of more gun control – two identical options.  Most of them are waiting for the media to tell them what position they should take.  Fortunately, the political machine has made it simple for us.  Let’s just have Congress vote along party lines.  The Republicans can now be against Fast and Furious because a Democrat is in the White House.  But, it was a different story when the identical Operation Wide Receiver was run by the Bush White House.   A politician can pick and choose from all angles and pieces of this story and come up with any argument for his constituents outlining why he is “appalled” and wants to get to the bottom of it.   Never mind the other troubling facts like the quickly covered-up “friendly fire” discussion in the shooting investigation involving deceased Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry.  Never mind the family’s concern about Agent Terry’s position ahead of his group and the fact that he was shot in the lower back when the magnificent firefight was initiated by his fellow officers (a firefight now blamed on “Fast and Furious”).  Never mind the family’s concern about the initial lack of indication that anyone else fired a firearm other than the Border Patrol Agents on scene who initiated the action.  Never mind the government’s refusal to talk to the family for a lengthy period.  Never mind the endless avoidance of the analysis of the bullet found in Agent Terry’s body.  The bullet was eventually classified by the government as a “medium size” bullet without any ballistic detail.  Fortunately, (for the political process) the “Fast and Furious” angle broke early onto the scene as the now forgotten “friendly fire” issue was getting uncomfortable.  Political finger-pointing took its place and we were allowed to get back to the “important” Left-Right political debate as to who will better protect us from the boogeyman.
